The first meeting of Booklab was hugely successful. The room was filled with eclectic, accomplished people who heard Sara DiVello read excerpts from her book Where In the Om Am I?
Sara has a talent for portraying characters, and they in turn describe the two very different career worlds she has inhabited: financial services and yoga. The book is about her personal transition to yoga teacher and also about human behavior in a variety of settings, and how eccentric it can be. The writing is witty and insightful, and earned Sara positive critical reviews and a place on Shape magazine’s must-read list for the summer. http://www.shape.com/lifestyle/mind-and-body/summer-reading-12-books-take-beach?page=9
Sara is an intelligent and animated presenter, and those of us at Booklab peppered her with questions about the writing process, editing, micro-publishing, book design, publicity and other nitty-gritty issues authors face. Many who were present are writers, published or aspiring, and they brought a high level of discourse to the evening.
For those who write, and for those who love books, Booklab is a new venue in Boston. Soon I’ll be posting more about the topics for the months ahead, and I hope you’ll join us.
